On January 1st I started a project that stretched my comfort zone. I wanted to make a free standing "doll". I used some wire that Tommy bought me and wrapped it with quilt batting. I used yarn to tie the batting on.

I know, the first pic is upside down, but I took it that way trying to get a good view of the limbs.

I used batik fabric as the covering. I love batiks. I tied the strips on the trunk. I cut the leaves from the same fabric; used fabric paint to make the veins. I then tied all the leaves onto the branches.....all 10 of them.

I used glitter gel pens to draw the face on unbleached muslin.

She still needs some embellishing but everyone who has seen her likes her.

This is my FFT's RR block for CQI after Diane in Canada has worked her magic. I love the chain stitch aqueduct (did I mention my hubby is a structural engineer who used to build bridges and loves the ancient Roman aqueducts).
